Colors of Winter

Winter is not grey. Not, if you care to look for color, which on this particular day, thanks to endless sunshine, was pretty much everywhere. Lauren and Anthony (the stars of December 29, 2007) had a blast in the frigid temperatures, though a short coffee (or was it hot chocolate?) break helped!

February 17, 2008

Isabella and Austin were already featured on our blog in "Prelude" in October of last year. This time it was a cold day but in warm colors, all thanks to a traditional Korean Pebek Ceremony with particularly colorful Hanbok. Congratulations guys!

By the way, does anyone know what is the official name of the groom's traditional clothing for Pebek ceremony? Bride's outfit is commonly called Hanbok (which literally means Korean dress), but we can't find anything about the groom's attire, is it called the same? We've been shooting Pebek ceremonies for over ten years and it would be nice to know... Anyone? Please tell us!

Edit Februay 26, 2007-

From Isabella and Austin:

Hanbok is a general term for korean traditional attire. There's a whole slew of different names for different parts of the outfit. Wedding Hanbok is called Hollyebok. The bridegroom wears the baji (pants), the jeogori (a jacket), the joggi (a vest), the magoja (an overcoat), and the durumagi (an overall coat). The bride wears a bright colored chima (a skirt), a jeogori (a short jacket), and a wonsam (a bride's long overcoat). Her hair is prepared using a jokduri (a special head ornament). Mine was that long green jade stick. Usually you see the groom in blue but Austin was in red that day.

From Jamie:

I've also heard that the groom's attire is called a faruotsu.

To all the LOVERS out there...

Kristine and Ron dancing in NY

Kristine and Don came down to New York to "re-dance" their first dance on Rachel Ray's daytime talk show (www.rachelrayshow.com). You can watch them on abc on Valentine's Day (10:00 AM Eastern Time). They also danced around Soho with us for a bit, on what turned out to be the warmest day ever in NYC in February - talk about luck!
